| Statement
of Faith of CYCM |
||||
| 1. | We believe the Old and New
Testament Scriptures are the inspired, infallible, authoritative Word of
God and are the final authority for all matters of faith and conduct.
|
|||
| 2. | We believe there is on eternal
God, revealed in Scriptures as the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. |
|||
| 3. | We believe that God created
the heavens and the earth and all that is in them out of nothing, by His
Word. |
|||
| 4. | We believe that God created
man and woman in His image, but because Adam and Eve disobeyed God, we all
inherited a sin nature and became sinful and separate from God and in need
of a Savior to save us from our sins and the penalty for our sins and restore
us to fellowship with God. |
|||
| 5. | We believe our Lord Jesus Christ
is the only begotten Son of God, who is fully God and fully man. We believe
in His sinless life, His miracles, His vicarious, atoning death on the
cross, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father
and His future, personal return in power and glory. |
|||
| 6. | We believe that the Lord Jesus
Christ died for our sins, according to the Scriptures, as a substitutionary
sacrifice, and that all who personally put their faith in Christ as their
substitute and receive Him into their lives as their Lord and Savior are
justified on the grounds of His shed blood, and thereby become children
of God and are restored to fellowship with Him. We believe that salvation
and eternal life with God are free gifts, which are received by grace through
faith in Christ and cannot be earned. We believe that Jesus Christ is the
only way to salvation and fellowship with God. |
|||
| 7. | We believe in the present ministry
of the Holy Spirit, who gives believers his fruits and by whose Person,
presence, and power the child of God is enabled to live a Godly life. |
|||
| 8. | We believe in the bodily resurrection
of the righteous and the unrighteous, the everlasting, conscience blessedness
of the saved with God and the everlasting, conscience punishment of the
lost apart from God. |
|||
| 9. | We believe in the spiritual
unity of all who have the indwelling Spirit of Christ. |
|||
| 10. | We believe that Christ has commanded all believers to preach the good news of His Kingdom to all people and to make disciples of all who believe in Him until He returns. | |||

A Word from the Chairman of the Board
The Christian Youth Center of Morris has been open since October of 2001. We
are currently located in the Old Morris Theater at 118 E. Jefferson St. in downtown
Morris, IL.
We share the building with My Father’s House of Prayer but we are separate entities.
We have our own board of director, currently consisting of members from four
area churches.
The Christian Youth Center of Morris (CYCM) was founded with the idea of reaching
out to area youth and providing a healthy environment for them to enjoy themselves.
We realized that the best church youth programs were often limited to whom they
could reach. Kids tend to go where their friends are. Young people from other
churches are usually reluctant to cross familiar boundaries and go to other
youth groups. By the time they are in High School, most of them have stopped
being active in any church related activity except on Sunday morning. We want
to see that changed.
We have sought to make the CYCM a nondenominational, or more accurately, a cross
denominational organization. Our statement of faith and purpose was written
to give an opportunity to as many churches as possible to be involved in the
CYCM without compromising the truth. We leave doctrinal issues outside of our
statement of faith to the local churches.
We want to provide young people a safe place to explore a relationship with
Jesus and to be discipled in that relationship. We want to provide a fun atmosphere
with plenty of interactive games and friendly conversation. We also desire to
have a presentation of the love of God at every meeting.
Over the next year we hope to develop programs for Jr. and Sr. High, college
and career singles, and the Hispanic community in Grundy County. We need input
from churches, businesses and individuals in order to tailor programs that will
fill the needs that exist in the county. If you are interested in the CYCM and
want to know how you can be involved you can contact us at the e-mail address,
or nick@morrisyouth.com.

All donations are tax deductible and we are greatly appreciative.
To be put on our adult or youth mailing list e-mail the above address and we
will keep you informed of our activities and needs.
If your church wants to be involved in helping determine the direction of the
CYCM and you are in agreement with our statement of faith and purpose then contact
me at the chairman address above. I would appreciate having the opportunity
to speak with you and let you know what is involved in having a seat on the
CYCM board of directors. I would also like the opportunity to come to your church
and give a presentation and have a Q & A session for your leadership team or
your whole congregation.
